The Hunter's Moon

I have a ton of stuff to do today, and as many people around here, I don't really want to do anything but blog. I'm a lazy-bones though. As I've stated a few times 'round here, I spent two weeks training someone to do my old job, due to the wonderful world of union seniority. (I'm holding up the rest of the totum pole as I'm at the bottom) I didn't get to blog as much as I would have liked.

Blah blah blah ... I'm dull today.

Anyway ... yesterday .... my mum called me at 11 am and stated, very matter-of-factly, that we were moving my gramma Y into the nursing home later that day. I had to head to work at 2pm ... she wanted to get gramma over there by 1pm, move all her stuff in, and take her around to see all the people. YAY. I'm happy my gramma is in there as she has very severe alzheimers, and the activities will keep her going, I just didn't have a lot of time to get things done. In addition to that ... I needed to get to the post office to send off a christmas package.

We got gramma Y ensconced in her room, and the attendant took her out to mingle and meet people, I headed off to the post office with about 15 minutes to spare. I walked into the post office, and to my dismay (3 days before christmas) there were only TWO ... count them TWO people working the post office counter. I was like WTF ... you've got to be kidding me. I promptly turned around and left while stating ... loudly and off-key, that I'd be doing business with Fed-Ex. (and people wonder why the postal service is going to hell in a hand-basket) After that ... I headed off to work, not getting anything that I needed to get done, done.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm flattered that my family calls me first to help them get things done, a little notice would be nice though. In addition, it's not like I'm a freaking only child. (although, sometimes I feel that way)

Today, I have a few more gifts to pick up and I have to do some shopping for my other gramma, gramma M. She's making her awesome shrimp dip for Christmas, YUMMY ... so I'm not fussed about having this extra task to do. In addition, the fed-ex store is right near the grocers that I'll be going to so ... it works out nicely. I love it when things like that happen.

Finally, after all this running around, I'm going to run a hot bath. Drink several glasses of wine, and then wrap all my gifts. Woot Woot!

On with less pressing matters.

ஜ~§Poem Of The Day§~ஜ

THE HUNTER'S MOON.

THE Hunter's Moon rides high,
High o'er the close-cropped plain;
Across the desert sky
The herded clouds amain
Scamper tumultuously,
Chased by the hounding wind
That yelps behind.

The clamorous hunt is done,
Warm-housed the kennelled pack;
One huntsman rides alone
With dangling bridle slack;
He wakes a hollow tone,
Far echoing to his horn
In clefts forlorn.

The Hunter's Moon rides low,
Her course is nearly sped.
Where is the panting roe?
Where hath the wild deer fled?
Hunter and hunted now
Lie in oblivion deep:
Dead or asleep.

Hi there!
I like your blog. I was looking at your bookshelf. I just finished the Twilight series. I really liked 1 and 2 the best. Glad to hear your gramma is getting along in her new surroundings.
BTW, I like the word gudgeon. More people should use it. :)

I've never seen more than 2 clerks at a time at the post office.....and you're right.....at Christmas time, when the po is sooooo busy, there should definitely be more staff.

Whew, what a post! I'm just now getting started on my top ten list, so it might be a while.

Got here by two parallel tracks, without realizing I was on both of them: One is from the comment you left on my "Cats in a Bag" post, the other was through "Crude and Feckless". Small world!

Thank you for the eyes on the page, I'm glad you liked the play! I am working on an encore and hope you might stop in again.

Merry Christmas from the Republic Of Gumbo!

P.S.: And might I add, Sweet Pea Surry is a lovely name! :)

SC, I'm happy you enjoy it. Sometimes it can be a chore putting it all together, but I do enjoy when I finally get it posted.

PI, I did in fact get my wine and my bath. It was seriously lovely

HDD, I rarely if ever even go to the post office, and when I've gone before there usually were only 2 clerks, but still ... 3 days before Christmas, I think that's rediculous!!!

IG, I'm a 'blog-stalkin' ya ... so dunna fret, I'll be blopping by regularly!!
