A Crazed Girl

I wasn't 'tagged' by WiseYoungMommy, but I really liked the idea of her post today, so I'm just flat out STEALING it!!! I'm a cyber-thief that way!!! I know ... arrest me!!!

So ... here are the instructions:

1.go to your documents

2. go to your 6th file. (I only have 1 file, so I cheated a bit)

3.go to your 6th picture.

4. blog about it.

5. tag 6 friends to do the same.

and the Photo:

And here's the blurb about it:
This is one of my nieces, she was dressed up as a flower for halloween, I'm pretty sure this is the first picture taken of her where she actually seems to be 'preening' for the camera. It's a doggone good piccie of the little cutie patootie.

I never thought I would get to the point of actually wanting kids, I think JPC has me talked into it. And my nieces and nephews are freaking cool kids too, so maybe just maybe, if I have kids ... they won't turn out to be crazy circus freaks.

Finally, I'm tagging 6 people now ... sorry guys, but this really is a pretty simple little list to accomplish ... ya know?

Sidewalk Shoes (AKA Pam)(I'm going to guess it's a picture of a part of some kind of food goody, at least I hope it is!!!)
SparkleFarkle (I thought you'd like this)
Evanesco (Something to change your train of thought)
SweetCheeks (Give it a shot)
Profoundly Inarticulate (Because you just can't BE inarticulate about this)
Irish Gumbo
(I just have an odd feeling that anything you pick out will be outrageous)

ஜ~§The Question Of The Day§~ஜ

As the old saying goes, one person's trash is another person's treasure. What's the best thing—chairs, roller skates, old electronics—you've ever found that someone else had thrown away?

ஜ~§The Word Of The Day§~ஜ

Etesian

PRONUNCIATION:
(i-TEE-zhuhn)

MEANING:
adjective: Occurring annually.

ETYMOLOGY:
The word refers to the annual summer winds of the Mediterranean. It's derived from Latin etesius, from Greek etesios, from etos (year). Ultimately from the Indo-European root wet- (year) that is also the source of such words as veteran, veal (in the sense of yearling), and veterinary (relating to the beasts of burden, perhaps alluding to old cattle), inveterate, wether, and bellwether.

USAGE:
"British gold medal hope Paula Radcliffe suffers from asthma. She will be praying Greece's etesian wind will blow away much of the Athens smog."

ஜ~§Poem Of The Day§~ஜ

A Crazed Girl

THAT crazed girl improvising her music.
Her poetry, dancing upon the shore,

Her soul in division from itself
Climbing, falling She knew not where,
Hiding amid the cargo of a steamship,
Her knee-cap broken, that girl I declare
A beautiful lofty thing, or a thing
Heroically lost, heroically found.

No matter what disaster occurred
She stood in desperate music wound,
Wound, wound, and she made in her triumph
Where the bales and the baskets lay
No common intelligible sound
But sang, 'O sea-starved, hungry sea.'

William Butler Yeats

ஜ~§Recipe of the Day§~ஜ

White Bean and Sausage Soup

Ingredients:
1 pkg (1.8 oz) leek soup and recipe mix (we used Knorr)
1 lb reduced-fat kielbasa or Italian sausages
2 cans (16 oz each) white kidney beans (cannellini), rinsed
6 oz Swiss chard, coarsely chopped

Preparation:
1. Mix soup mix with 6 cups water in a 3 1/2-qt or larger slow-cooker. Add kielbasa and beans.

2. Cover and cook on low 7 to 9 hours. Remove kielbasa with tongs to cutting board; cut into diagonal slices.

3. Stir kielbasa slices and Swiss chard into slow cooker. Cover and cook 10 minutes just until chard is wilted. Serve with grated Parmesan, if desired.

Serve with: grated Parmesan

Brightest Blessings,

Aw, that's an adorable picture! Who wouldn't love a little girl dressed up as a flower. :-)

I will definitely do my own version of this tomorrow. I love picture posts!

Aww, that's such a cute picture!

I found an old bookcase. I sanded it and re stained it and now it looks probably close to what it looked like when it was new! Unfortunately I had no room to keep it after I fixed it up so I sold to a family friend who owns an antique store.

That is a ridiculously cute child-thing.

Thanks guys, my niece is awfully adorable.

DrW, I nearly blew tea out of my nose when I read 'child-thing' as often times that's how I view them myself.

I'll be a TERRIFIC mother someday!!!

There's going to be all hell to pay when you produce that photo at her 21st!

In our apartment complex, people moving out, who don't want to haul their stuff with them, leave usable items next to the dumpster for others to take. I'm also a thrift store junkie ... I love the whole concept of recycling things. One of my favorite "finds" was a desk ... almost new ... perfect for our office.

BTW ... congratulations on your "green" efforts! Way to go ... the earth thanks you!! :)

Take Care!

What's with the 666? 6th file, 6th picture, 6 people. I am afraid, because the movies tell me to be.

I just had such a great flashback of Drea's Dumpster Diva stories at TV.com!
My mom works at a thrift shop. Almost every item of furniture is a find from there. I did dumpster dive when someone threw out a light fixture cover that replaced the one I broke in my condo. I'm not sure if any one saw me do it and then blogged about it...lol!
OK, I'm looking up the six thingamijigs.

KM, I have no idea, like I said I stole it, but now that you mention it, I suppose the Devil made me do it!!!

Evanesco, OMG ... those were my favorite stories of hers.

I wish someone would throw away a light fixture that matches the won that I broke. Except that if they threw it away, it probably means it broke the same way mine did and won't screw into the slot. :(

"Cutie Patootie" says it all! and Oo! Oo! Oo! Thanks for the tag-- you're right this blog game is right up my alley! I'll "play" next blog.

My best tree boarder garbage find was discovered in front of a house where an artist had just moved out. Tons of water color paper, prints, a leather portfolio, newsprint pads, art books, and cool posters. I just happened to be scavenging at abouut 5 AM. It pays to shop early!
