Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal

Okay, so there was something I wanted to actually contribute today, and I should have written it down earlier, because now I've forgotten it.

I did have a great time chatting with a guy I know last night, the man just cracked me UP. Funny funny guy, I'm looking forward to speaking with him again. He and I have decided that we would have a smashingly good time together should we ever go out and party.

Speaking of parties, I'm going to one tonight. A gentleman that I work with invited me over to hang out and have a good time. Needless to say, I've been crushing on this guy for some time. Tall, dark hair, liquid brown eyes, fantastic smile. Okay, you chocolate puddles get up! It's just a party for chrissake! Anyway, I'm getting into the PISSED OFF phase of this stupid break-up, so I think I'm coming along fine.

I had more to say than I thought I did! YAY!

Oh and I've been a total goof on twitter, so really guys, just ignore any nonsense I type in there! Onwards and Upwards ...

While I thought that I was learning how to live, I have been learning how to die.

Still plugging away at the same old stuff.

ஜ~§What I'm Watching§~ஜ

Tonight is: Legend of the Seeker. I've been pretty disappointed, nothing has recorded for me for two days. I work 3pm - 11pm so I really rely on my DVR for primetime programming. I reset it, so I'm crossing my fingers in the hopes that I don't miss my show tonight. I do love a good swashbuckling adventure!

ஜ~§Poem Of The Day§~ஜ

Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal

NOW sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;
Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font.
The firefly wakens; waken thou with me.

Now droops the milk-white peacock like a ghost,
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.

Now lies the Earth all Danaë to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me.

Now slides the silent meteor on, and leaves
A shining furrow, as thy thoughts in me.

Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,
And slips into the bosom of the lake.
So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip
Into my bosom and be lost in me.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Cherry Tomato Cucumber Salad

Ingredients:
2-3 cups of cherry and/or pear tomatoes, sliced in half
1 cup of chopped cucumber, peeled (and seeded if the seeds are bitter)
1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
1 Tbsp chiffonaded mint leaves
1 teaspoon fresh, chopped oregano
1 Tbsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp of finely chopped shallots or green onions
2 teaspoons olive oil
Coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Preparation:
Gently toss the tomatoes, cucumber, feta, onions, mint, and oregano together. Dress with lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper to taste.

It's actually a LOVELY day today, warm and sunny. This salad seemed to CALL to me!

Brightest Blessings,
~S~

Yaaay for parties and new fellas! And you seem to be progressing nicely through the grief stages...excellent work! :P

And I'm super excited about the death question; weird, I know. I've done a lot of thinking, and since I'm claustrophobic (i.e., coffins or cremation ovens), I told my family I wanted them to burn me on an open-to-the-sky funeral pyre. They told me it was illegal. Talk about rain on your parade.

SweetPeaSurry said...

I bet it's not illegal EVERYWHERE though!!! I bet there's somewhere they'll let you do it!

That salad looks fabulous. I'm going out to my kitchen right now and making myself one!

Have fun tonight. Let us know all about it... :-)

Where I go "after": In the ground, but with a parka tucked in with me in the event that I get too cold. Heck, put a flask in there, too... and a cell phone, just in case I was only deep-sleeping. A spectacularly ornate tombstone as my topper, too. No bathtubs up-ended for this girl.

SweetPeaSurry said...

Oh those upended tubs make me CRINGE I tell ya!!!

Awesome! I hope you have a great time!

P.S. Will there be dancing?

I love that da Vinci quote!

I've been thinking lately of how I am okay with the thought of dying. Finally. Not that I plan on going for another 50-some years, mind you! But I've learned to see the absolute beauty in aging and death.

I like the idea of my ashes being released to the wind with Kyle's. Who also had better not be going anywhere for another 50-some years!

I'm glad to hear that you are perkin'!

Where on earth do you find the inspiration to do all these "of the days" every day? Can I have a crumb of your energy? PLEASE?

Your date sounds HOT. Have fun!

I hope you have a great time and get rid of the post breakup funk!

LOL Ann, I have most of this stuff pre-coded, so really it only takes me about a half an hour to populate the different items. I'm a lazy blogger like that.

When I came up with the idea, it was because I'm such a lazy blogger, but I wanted a little something for everyone. I wanted it to be appealing for ALL who cometh!!!

This should explain why there's not really much about me or my life in there. (As of late that's changed)

Okay ... done rambling now.

I'd like my body to be laid out in a wooden row boat and set on fire, viking style. I'd love if somebody could find a nice sword for me to grasp, just to complete the look.

i love that quote- learning to live/to die- i thought a lot about this as my grandparents died.

as far as when i die- i want to be placed under a tree! mr. curry always tells me i'm going to get him arrested because body dumping is illegal.

How did the date go!!! I saw your twitter that you went to bed veeeeeeery late.... lots of fun??

Death, huh: I want to be cremated and then have my ashes sprinkled on the farm I grew up on and the lake that we spend our summers on.
