I'm going to have a rant about a wee bit of a pet peeve of mine. Ya know ... men are always asked what they look for in a woman. They always answer ... I want someone strong, and independent, smart, funny. Etc etc etc. I hate to break down this notion of the perfect woman. I'm sure there are some out there. I am an independent, strong, kind, caring, funny girl. HOWEVER, I have a flaw. Sometimes I get weepy. Sometimes I even full out cry. Sometimes I get a little crazy-eyed out of frustration! Yes boys ... that's right, sometimes I just let loose.
(For your information guys, all you have to do is petterpet and say there there. You really don't need to get all freaked out. AND by NO means should you ask what is wrong!!! You may actually get an answer.)
With that being said I'd like to tell you that whenever there is a tragedy or an accident or something life-changing in my world. I am usually the first one to be contacted. In general, it's because like my father I can keep my cool in a stressful or an horrific situation. In those moments I don't freak out, I am calm and centered as I realize that being hysterical really does no good. I'm good like that, and I can be counted on in situations of that nature. No worries! LATER ... much later ... I'll break down ... could be weeks ... could be months ... could be years. Anyway ... my point is ... just because a girl might get weepy and a little weird from time to time, that's no reason to count her out. I mean I'm a girl, I can be hormonal ... I have girl hormones, if I didn't ... I'd be one of YOU!
In addition to actually being a girl, I have been blessed (or cursed) with a very vivid and romantic imagination. Sometimes that works in my favor in a relationship, (or in HIS favor rather) sometimes it just makes me seem a bit odd. Sheesh ... thems the breaks, ya know?
Rant over ... On a personal note: I like celery.
Now, let's see if I can find a funny for ya.
You've probably all heard this one before too, but it's always good for a laugh:
As a trucker stops for a red light, a blonde catches up. She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door.
The trucker lowers the window, and she says "Hi, my name is Heather and you are losing some of your load."
The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street.
When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again.
She jumps out of her car, runs up and knocks on the door.
Again, the trucker lowers the window. As if they've never spoken, the blonde says brightly, "Hi my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the street.
At the third red light, the same thing happens again.
All out of breath, the blonde gets out of her car, runs up, knocks on the truck door. The trucker rolls down the window Again she says "Hi, my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
When the light turns green the trucker revs up and races to the next light.
When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs back to the blonde.
He knocks on her window, and after she lowers it, he says...
"Hi, my name is Kevin, it's winter in Minnesota and I'm driving the SALT TRUCK!"
Brightest Blessings,
Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much.

Echo
Come to me in the silence of the night;
Come in the speaking silence of a dream;
Come with soft rounded cheeks and eyes as bright
As sunlight on a stream;
Come back in tears,
O memory, hope, love of finished years.
O dream how sweet, too sweet, too bitter sweet,
Whose wakening should have been in Paradise,
Where souls brimfull of love abide and meet;
Where thirsting longing eyes
Watch the slow door
That opening, letting in, lets out no more.
Yet come to me in dreams, that I may live
My very life again though cold in death:
Come back to me in dreams, that I may give
Pulse for pulse, breath for breath:
Speak low, lean low
As long ago, my love, how long ago.

Shrimp Scampi Pasta
Ingredients:
1/4 cup olive oil
1 lb peeled and deveined large shrimp (raw; 20 to 25 per lb)
4 large garlic cloves, left unpeeled and forced through a garlic press
1/2 teaspoon dried hot red-pepper flakes
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
3/4 lb capellini (angel-hair pasta)
1/2 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
Preparation:
Bring a 6- to 8-quart pot of salted water to a boil.
Meanwhile, heat oil in a 12-inch heavy skillet over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking, then sauté shrimp, turning over once, until just cooked through, about 2 minutes, and transfer with a slotted spoon to a large bowl. Add garlic to oil remaining in skillet along with red pepper flakes, wine, salt, and pepper and cook over high heat, stirring occasionally, 1 minute. Add butter to skillet, stirring until melted, and stir in shrimp. Remove skillet from heat.
Cook pasta in boiling water until just tender, about 3 minutes. Reserve 1 cup pasta-cooking water, then drain pasta in a colander. Toss pasta well with shrimp mixture and parsley in large bowl, adding some of reserved cooking water if necessary to keep moist.

10 Things people say ...:
I've been following you around the blogs this morning it seems since your name is before mine whenever I comment :) So I had to stop by and check you out.
Loved the joke and I completely agree with your rant!
Andrea ... lovely to have you here. I really had to get that rant off my chest!!! Sheesh, men are sooooo fickle, much more fickle than women!
WHy is it that at the end of all your entries I'm hungry?
I despise celery like Superman hates kryptonite. But I like you.
Vodka Mom, should I post the recipe at the beginning? Then you can forget about it by the end? I do find some yummy yummy schtuff!
Captain Dumbass, I like you too. I happened to be munching on celery when I posted this. I didn't want ya'll to think I was festering about my 'short-comings'! :)
I think MOST people deserve second chances. If they're some horrible killer of something then no but the rest yeah pretty much :)
Okay, is the poem depressing or is it just me?
LOVE the rant. You are comPLETely within your rights to have breakdowns (especially since you're the rock at most other times), and guys need to realize that it's not so horrible and that you just need a hug "to make it all better." :)
People deserve second chances, but never thirds. And the second chance should be undertaken with a lot of advance preparation for one's sanity.
LOVE the Oscar Wilde quote, BTW!
Do you need a hug? I'm sending you one right now.
"I have a flaw. Sometimes I get weepy. Sometimes I even full out cry... Yes boys ... that's right, sometimes I just let loose...because a girl might get weepy and a little weird from time to time, that's no reason to count her out. I mean I'm a girl, I can be hormonal ... I have girl hormones, if I didn't ... I'd be one of YOU!"
Egad!!! But that's what I love about women, they're different. They see things differently, feel things differently. They constantly surprise me.
Besides there are too many of us already, we don't need anymore.
Sweet Pea, you and I are alike here. I'm very good in an emergency. We wil do whatever needs to be done and when it's all over, we'll sit down and freak. But not until what needs to be done gets done.
Pearl
I used to be hopeless around crying women, then I learned that I was just supposed to "be there."
