Army Wives:

Okay ... I'm super-duper excited about the season premier of Army Wives. I started watching this show when it first came out three years ago and I fell completely ass-over-teakettle for the characters. I just adore them all. I recall watching the show the first two years and each and every episode brought not only a nice belly laugh, but also a poignant tear. I think the writers have been brilliant keeping the audience tuned in and interested. If you haven't seen the show, I do recommend it. (Okay ... maybe not for you guys, although there is a ton of machismo in it!)
Unfortunately, I have no wine to drink while watching the episode this week, but perhaps next week. (Yay for paydays!)

The Next Food Network Star:

I watch a total of 3 reality TV competitions; So You Think You Can Dance, Hell's Kitchen, and The Next Food Network Star! In general I'm not a big fan of the Reality Competition genre, so I suppose these are guilty pleasures for me, as well as a trip to hypocrisyville. Well hells bells, I can't be perfecta-mundo all the time ya know? And show me a SINGLE living person that hasn't been a bit hypocritical at least once in their lives. Right ... onward HO! I took a gander at the finalists that will be on the show; they all seem pretty well versed on the art of cooking even though there is a mix of eclectic backgrounds. This season should be pretty interesting.

(Hah ... see guys. I'm thinking if I continue with a less structured TV and Book section, my blogs might get a wee bit more interesting.)

Royal Pains:

I watched the premier of a new show Royal Pains which I mentioned briefly in my last post. This series is about an up and coming doctor (Hank) who gets canned, although he did everything by the book, after allowing a rich patient to die, and saving a poor patient. (bureaucratic much?) A while later, his gold digging girlfriend dumps him, and his brother Evan comes to fetch him to live it up for a weekend in the hamptons. And thus starts Dr. Hank's new career, as a Concierge doctor for the people living in the hamptons. The beginning was a bit slow, but the storyline is promising and the writers add a lot of interesting quips in.

Burn Notice:

Oy ... this was another summer series that I was happy to see return! YAY. This show is extremely well written. If you haven't seen it -- and you're a TV watcher -- you should! It's about a spy who's been burned, essentially becomes persona non grata in the spy world. Once this happens ... you're dumped off someplace with nothing. So the show is all about this spy-guy trying to get his job back; getting shot at, blown up, dropped from helicopters into the ocean and much much more. Plus, the lead character Michael Westin (played by Jeffrey Donovan) is tres sexay!!! Watch it folks!

Onward and upward ....

I'm planning on re-introducing my more structured blog, as I said a post or two ago, this coming wednesday. So be on the lookout for it. I've been saving up some funnies for it too. I really think I needed this haitus as well as the re-working of the format, as I was getting terribly bored putting it together. So I hope it ends up having a bit more 'me' in it. My other hope is that it doesn't end up plebian.

Now for the reading portion of this post.

Harry Potter:

I've been re-reading the Harry Potter series starting from the beginning. In the beginning, when the HP craze swept the nation, I was bound and determined NOT to get caught up in the hullabaloo. However, I took a trip back east to spend some time with a very good friend, and she badgered me to near death to watch the first HP movie. If I didn't like it she wouldn't bother me again. "FINE FINE FINE" I said to her, "If it will get you off my back!". I watched the movie ... and was hooked. (damn you Elisa!) Nevertheless, I've read the first book so many times, it's nearly falling apart. I would re-read the series each time a new book would come out. ~sigh~ I know I know ... I'm completely barmy for doing this. But ... as I've said ... I'm hooked. The next HP movie is coming out next month, and I hope to have the books read up to The Half Blood Prince. I'm REALLY keen on Harry Potter, if you can't tell and I'm extremely excited for the movie to come out!

Okay ... I do believe I've rambled enough for one post. I'm on my 'rest days' aka weekend tomorrow and Tuesday ... so I may post periodically, and then back to the norm on Wednesday.

I hope you all had a pleasant weekend.

Brightest blessings,

Surry

A more structured blog huh? I'm not sure what that is but it sounds nice...

It is a shame there was no wine when required. Wine should generally accompany all TV I feel.

Unfortunately I'm a big fan of reality tv - Survivor, Real Housewives (all of them!), Project Runway, Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen, The Fashion Show...the list goes on and on.

My favorite shows always get cancelled. I loved, loved, loved "Life on Mars' *Poof* Gone. I'm afraid to get too attached to anything on TV. I love the movie channels, however.
