Well it's the end of the weekend for you folks and I do hope it was a lovely one for you. It is the second day of my work week and tonight is one of my heaviest TV nights. Luckily, I have me some vino to drink while I watch tele after I get home. So ... for my tv viewing pleasure, (and hopefully some of you will check out a few of these gems too) I have the following lined up ...
Merlin
Merlin finds an unexpected ally in Morgana when he attempts to shield a magical druid boy from Uther's wrath and smuggle him back to his people.
I love love love this show. It's so much fun and it's fantastical. My favorite type of show. The characters are really developing and it's interesting to watch. I need to re-familiarize myself with the legend surrounding Merlin and King Arthur again to see what tweaks they're making with these characters.
True Blood
Accompanied by Isabel’s human boyfriend Hugo, Sookie embarks on a dangerous mission to locate Godric. Meanwhile, Bill is shocked when a vampire from his distant, more violent past resurfaces in Dallas. In Bon Temps, Daphne presses Sam to get comfortable in his own skin(s); Hoyt continues his unlikely courtship of Jessica; Andy interrogates Lafayette about his disappearance; and Tara and Eggs take a detour while on a road trip. At the Light of Day camp, Jason faces difficult emotional and physical choices.
TB is getting super duper excellent. I cannot wait to see this Godric character. I just know Sookie will be getting into trouble trying to locate him. That's just a given.
Doctor Who
A burglar (Michelle Ryan) encounters the Doctor on a bus that takes an abrupt detour to a desert world inhabited by hostile life-forms.
I have been waiting AGES for a new Doc Who. I'm really excited about this one because it has Michelle Ryan in it. I think she's just the bees knees.
Army Wives
Joan and Evan compete against each other in Fort Marshall s war games; Haneen's surgery is a success; Frank and Denise continue to work on their relationship.
I've been looking forward to a showdown between Joan and Evan for a while know. Evan is a backstabbing little asshat that really needs to be taken down a peg or two. He has absolutely NO honor! I'm pleased as well that Frank and Denise are working things out ... they're re-woo'ing eachother. It's lovely.
In Plain Sight
A world-class counterfeiter witness is suspected in a murder; Mary and Marshall realize they may be hiding a witness from the government.
This show has quickly become a favorite of mine. Season two is moving along well. The dialoge and banter is just so unbelievably witty. Mary's character is very complex and terribly interesting.
Being Human
In the series opener, three seemingly ordinary friends harbor dark secrets that are starting to catch up with them.
This show actually runs on Saturday, but I missed it, so I'll be recording it tonight. I'll let you know what I think about it. Essentially three friends, a warewolf, ghost and vampire are trying to live their lives as normally as possible. Sounds pretty interesting.
The Next Food Network Star
Emeril Lagasse greets the three remaining finalists at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, where they ll film scripted promos. I wasn't all that terribly excited about a lot of these contestants, but two of the three have grown on me. I think the third contestant, Debbie, isn't very truthful. I think she places a lot of blame on outside influences to keep herself out of hot water. She really needs to start taking some responsibility. I don't think she'll win.
Good stuff tonight! Egads!!!
I will be starting to touch upon some of the books that I've read, how I came about reading them, and how they've influenced me. Be on the look-out for that. I'm setting up the logistics of it as I continue to inventory my books. *grins*
Here's a funny:
Deadly Golf Trap
Jim and Bob are golfing. Jim slices his ball deep into a wooded ravine and climbs down in search of it.
Jim spots something shiny. As he gets closer, he realizes that the shiny object is an 8-iron in the hands of a skeleton lying near an old golf ball.
Jim calls out to Bob in an agitated voice, "Hey Bob, I got trouble down here."
Bob calls out, "What's the matter Jim?"
Jim shouts back, "Throw me my 7-iron. You can't get out of here with an 8-iron."
Egotism is the anesthetic that dulls the pain of stupidity.

PRONUNCIATION:
(dis-in-TUHR)
MEANING:
verb tr.:
1. To remove from a grave.
2. To bring to light.
ETYMOLOGY:
From Latin dis- (away, apart) + interrare (to bury), from in- (in) + terra (earth). Ultimately from the Indo-European root ters- (to dry) that is also the source of territory, terrace, turmeric, toast, and terra firma.
A synonym of today's word is exhume, from Latin ex- (out) + humus (earth), which is from the Indo-European root dhghem- (earth) that also gave us human, homicide, homage, chameleon, chamomile, and Persian zamindar (landholder).
USAGE:
"From underneath all this falsity, he needs to disinter what's true."
Ingredients:
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, room temperature
4 teaspoons minced shallot
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon minced peeled fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon peel
6 1/2-inch-thick diagonal baguette slices
2 pounds Manila clams, scrubbed
Special Equipment: 13x9x2-inch disposable aluminum baking pan
Preparation:
Prepare barbecue (high heat). Using spatula, blend butter, minced shallot, minced fresh parsley, fresh lemon juice, minced fresh ginger, and finely grated lemon peel in small bowl; season to taste with salt and pepper. Thinly spread lemon-ginger butter on 1 side of each bread slice. Arrange clams in single layer in disposable aluminum pan. Place pan on grill, cover barbecue, and cook just until clams open, 8 to 10 minutes (discard any clams that do not open).
Using slotted spoon, transfer grilled clams to 2 shallow bowls. Grill bread until slightly charred, 1 to 2 minutes per side. Add remaining lemon-ginger butter to juices in pan; stir on grill until melted. Pour juices from pan over clams. Serve with bread.
Bon Appetit!
