Devil in the Church

And it's Sunday again! I hope you all had a lovely and relaxing weekend! Tonight is one of my BIGGEST TV nights, surprisingly enough ... so we'll get on with that.

Tonight is:

Merlin

Arthur and Merlin save a young woman and her father from a band of brigands. Arthur becomes quite besotted with the young girl, Sophia, and offers them refuge in Camelot. However, it's not just Merlin who is suspicious of the new arrivals- Morgana awakes from a nightmare about Arthur's death at the hands of a beautiful young woman to find Sophia is the girl in the nightmare.

True Blood

Sookie connects with a man who shares her abilities; she joins Bill and Eric for an important meeting about Godric's disappearance. Maryann is still up to her voodoo hijinks; Jason is becoming quite the little warrior at genocide boot camp. In addition, we learn a little more about the 'Sherriff' Eric. Sounds like a good 'un as they say in the south.

Army Wives

We're getting the angsty base blues with Pamela getting into it over the kids' football coach's methods; Denise and Frank go for counseling; Joan and Evan are in a face off over who is the best. (Obviously JOAN is the best!) And Haneen makes herself at home at the Holden's. In for a penny in for a pound, this is one show I won't give up!

In Plain Sight

Always a good watch. The two main characters are a gas and the one-liners in this show are PRICELESS! We're going to see what happens to old mobsters when they come out of the witness protection program. Good times to be had by all!!!

Finally, my last show is:

The Next Food Network Star

Again this season I'm not all that impressed with the lot of them. Either they're wayyyy too perky (Do we really need another Rachel Ray?) or they just seem incompetent. We'll see how this goes. (Better question .. why AM I still watching this? Luckily Hell's Kitchen starts soon!)

I'm still in the middle of reading Black Hills by Nora Roberts. It's a really good story. What I love about her books is that there's so much research she puts into the areas that the stories are taking place in. I always feel like I'm learning something new about different locations.

I've been pondering doing a bit of a different book section in here. Not really a review so to speak ... but just a little blurb about books I've read in the past and how they've influenced me. Essentially sort of a Dickens through Updike. What do you all think about that?

(listens to the echoing silence)

Hmmm ... Well I'm going to do it anyway, once I get all of my titles logged! So There!

I'm off to read some more blogs. Here's a quick funny before I go:

Devil in the Church
One Sunday morning, Satan appeared before a small town congregation. Everyone started screaming and running for the front church door, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away.

Soon, everyone was gone, except for an elderly gentleman who sat calmly. Satan walked up to the man and said, "Don't you know who I am?"

The man replied, "Yep, sure do."
Satan asked, "Aren't you going to run?"
"Nope, sure ain't," said the man.
Perturbed, Satan asked, "Why aren't you afraid of me?"
The man calmly replied, "Been married to your sister for over 48 years."

ஜ~§The Question Of The Day§~ஜ

Is there anything in your family that has been passed down from generation to generation, or from family member to family member? What is it? And who do you plan to pass it on to?

My Grandmother who has recently passed, has an antique bedroom set. Three generations of my family were birthed in that bed. (We've since changed the mattress) In addtion, the grandmother clock that's hung in my grandparent's family room for as long as I can remember has been passed down to me.

Broiled Catfish

(tis the fishing season ... here's a healthy yummy recipe for da cat!)_

Ingredients:
4 catfish fillets (about 6 oz. each), thawed if frozen
2 large ripe tomatoes, halved
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 tablespoons bottled low-fat ranch dressing
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons olive oil

Preparation:
Heat the broiler. Line a broiler pan with foil for easy cleanup.

Arrange the fish and tomatoes, cut side up on the broiler pan rack. Sprinkle with the salt and pepper.

Spread 1 tbsp. of the ranch dressing on each fillet. Sprinkle the fish and tomatoes with the Parmesan cheese. Drizzle the hot oil on the cut sides of the tomatoes.

Broil about 5" from heat source for 8-10 minutes, or just until the top is nicely browned and the fish is opaque at its thickest part when tested with a fork.

Transfer the fish and tomatoes to serving plates and serve right away.

Mom's Macaroni Salad

Ingredients:
2 cups (about 1/2 lb) dry macaroni pasta (use rice pasta for gluten-free version)
Salt
1 hard boiled egg, chopped
1 roasted red bell pepper, chopped
1 Tbsp fresh chopped parsley
1/4 cup chopped spring onion or green onion
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice or vinegar
A generous amount of mayonnaise (1/3 to 1/2 cup)
Several pinches of paprika
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Preparation:
1 Cook macaroni, as directed on its package, in at least 2 quarts of salted water (1 teaspoon of salt per quart of water). When cooked through, but still slightly firm (al dente) remove from heat, drain and rinse with cool water until room temperature.

2 While macaroni is cooking, put chopped onions into a small bowl and sprinkle the lemon juice or vinegar over them. This will serve to take the edge off the onions.

2 Combine cooked macaroni, onions, and all other ingredients in a large serving bowl. Adjust seasonings to taste.

Serves 4.

Enjoy!

Cat fish? Noooooo.

The TV line-up? Ug, I'm gonna have to get cable. But I'm resisting.

Resist, resist. Dialing Time Warner...as we speak.

Hi there,
I'm delighted that you like my mom's macaroni salad recipe enough to write about it on your own site. I would ask that if you do so that you 1) not post the photo, and 2) rewrite the recipe in your own words. Thank you so much for your consideration!
Best,
Elise
